This year’s third collaboration is also the second beer we’ve brewed
with La Pirata Brewing, which was named the best brewery at last year’s
Barcelona Beer Challenge. Together with one of the most inspiring
Catalan brewery, we’ve brewed a sour ale which we’ve fermented and aged
in bourbon barrels which were also used for aging La Pirata’s legendary
Russian Imperial Stout, Black Bock. If this wasn’t enough already, the
result spent another nine months in oak barrels.
The result is
easy-drinking, but complex: moderately tart, bone dry with aromas of
grapefruit, oak woodiness, lactic acidity with that distinct bourbon
heat in the end. Immensely drinkable!
